Account data: email address, password (or sign-in via Google), first name, last name, residential address, and language preference are required to register. When you sign in with Google, Google provides us your email, given name, and family name in lieu of you setting a password. Floor number is optional and used only for internal statistics.
User-generated content: reviews (including ratings, resident type, length of stay, and dwelling information), forum posts, content reports, and property manager suggestions.
Verification documents: identity or residency documents you upload to verify your address. These documents are deleted as soon as your verification is approved or denied. We do not retain copies.
Page view records: when you view a building or property manager page while logged in, we record your user ID, an anonymised IP address, the page viewed, and the timestamp. This data is used to enforce usage limits and prevent abuse.
Technical data: we use first-party session cookies for authentication. We also collect anonymised page view statistics through a self-hosted analytics service that does not use tracking cookies and does not store IP addresses. We collect IP addresses transiently for rate limiting and abuse prevention — they are hashed before storage and never stored as raw values in our database.
We use your personal data to operate and maintain the platform, authenticate your identity, verify your residential address, enable community features, send transactional emails, prevent abuse, and improve the platform through anonymised analytics.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
We process your personal data on the following bases under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG): contract performance (account management, publishing reviews, forum participation); legitimate interest (abuse prevention, platform security, anonymised analytics); and consent (optional features such as address verification).
We use only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use marketing, advertising, or tracking cookies.
We set three cookies: a session cookie that keeps you logged in (30 days), a callback cookie used during the login process (browser session), and a security cookie that protects against cross-site request forgery (browser session). All cookies are encrypted and inaccessible to third-party scripts.
These cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to function and do not require consent under Swiss law and the EU ePrivacy Directive. Our analytics service does not use cookies.
Analytics: anonymised page view statistics, operated by us on our own servers. No cookies, no IP storage, no cross-site tracking.
swisstopo (geo.admin.ch): map tiles and address lookup, operated by the Swiss Confederation. Map tiles are loaded directly from your browser. Address searches are processed through our server.
Email delivery service: receives recipient email addresses and email content for transactional emails.
ALTCHA (bot protection): self-hosted on our own servers. Performs a small computation in your browser to detect automated abuse. No cookies, no third-party calls, no IP tracking beyond standard server logs.
Fonts are loaded at build time and served from our own domain. No requests are made to external font services.
Infomaniak Network SA: web hosting and data storage — Switzerland (Geneva) — privacy policy: https://www.infomaniak.com/en/legal-terms/data-protection-policy
Google Ireland Limited: authentication via Sign in with Google. When you choose this sign-in option, you are redirected to Google. Google receives your IP address and browser fingerprint as part of the redirect. We receive from Google: your email address, given name, family name, and Google account identifier. Google may store this data in jurisdictions including the United States under EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data with service providers who help us operate the platform (email delivery, as described above) and with law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required by Swiss law. User-generated content such as reviews and forum posts is published on the platform.
Account data is retained until you request deletion. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. User-generated content is retained while your account exists. Verification documents are deleted immediately after verification is approved or denied. When your account is deleted, it enters a 30-day grace period, after which all personal data is permanently and irreversibly deleted. Forum posts are anonymised to preserve thread continuity. Rate limiting data is automatically deleted when the rate limit window expires. Analytics data consists of anonymised aggregate statistics only.
We implement state-of-the-art technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption of all data in transit, secure password storage, anonymisation of IP addresses, and strict access controls. We regularly review and update our security practices.
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG), you have the right to access, rectification, deletion, data portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. You can delete your account directly from your account settings. For other requests, contact us at support@livinghere.ch or through the contact form. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
Your data is primarily stored and processed in Switzerland. Some third-party services may process data outside Switzerland, with appropriate data protection measures in place.
This platform is not intended for persons under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Registered users will be notified of significant changes via email.
